Quality time with .NET open source tools
NUnit 2.0
I love NUnit 2.0. The new attributes are just what NUnit needed. I’ll keep an eye on Drew’s .NETUnit, but for now I’m using NUnit 2.0.
log4net
I started using Log4Net a few weeks ago. Wow I’m impressed. There are a few things that I haven’t figured out yet – like why don’t many Appenders work when logging from a Windows Service and what is the best way to handle logging in a class library – but overall it is just what I needed.
I bought a copy of the log4j complete manual to get started. It covers the basic features and the architecture well. Overall I’m happy I bought it. But it would be nice to see more introductory information for .NET developers.
I still want to play with the .NET Remoting Appender. That would give me an excuse to play with .NET Remoting – something I haven’t gotten around to yet. It would also give me an excuse to invest in Ingo’s book.
It looks like I need to grab log4net 1.2.0 Beta3 while I’m at it.
Abstract ADO.NET
I’m also playing with Abstract ADO.NET. I didn’t realize Abstract ADO.NET was Justin Rudd’s project until I saw his name here. It’s a small world.
