My outgoing email server crashed yesterday afternoon. It is still down tonight. I'll reply to my email ASAP.

I'm amazed. But I'm not going to rehash all the gory details. Mark Pilgrim did a great job of documenting it all.
I played a very small part in all of this. Joe Gregorio linked to my idea. Mark Pilgrim saw Joe's post. And the rest is history.
Thanks to everyone who added a link to their site, or wrote code that took advantage of it, or just helped spread the meme. It was cool to watch.
